PM Barzani attends event providing fully-funded scholarships to 20 students
Erbil, Kurdistan Region (GOV.KRD) – Prime Minister Masrour Barzani today attended an event that granted fully-funded scholarships for 20 disadvantaged students to pursue their bachelor studies at the American University of Duhok (AUK).
Earlier in June, AUK signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with British oil company, Genel Energy, to fund a group of high school graduates, providing them with the opportunity of an education that will develop their talents, thus benefitting the Kurdistan Region.
Highlighting the significance of education and the pivotal role teachers play, in a speech delivered at the event, Prime Minister Barzani thanked the oil company for its initiative, while calling on other companies operating in the Region to collaborate.
The Prime Minister noted that 65% of AUK students attend university for free, expressing his support for students as they develop their abilities and enhance their knowledge.
