The meeting’s agenda focused on critical topics, including the disbursement of public sector salaries, ongoing negotiations between the Kurdistan Region and the Iraqi government in Baghdad, and the implementation of decrees aimed at improving the economic well-being of citizens.
The Council emphasised the urgent need for the Iraqi Government to release the financial entitlements and salaries to the Kurdistan Region, highlighting the region’s compliance with its obligations to Baghdad. Prime Minister Barzani underscored Iraq’s moral and constitutional duty to ensure the financial rights of the Kurdistan Region’s people are met.
Additional resolutions from the meeting included the authorisation of February salary payments, reductions in utility bills, reduction of educational instalments, and the allocation of land plots to public service employees who are yet to receive their allotments.
