Prime Minister Masrour Barzani receives a letter from German FM Annalena Baerbock

Erbil, Kurdistan Region – Prime Minister Masrour Barzani receives a letter from German FM Annalena Baerbock.

In the letter, German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock thanked the hospitality of the Kurdistani people in welcoming her in her visit to the Kurdistan Region earlier in March and emphasized Germany’s continued support for the Kurdistan Region.

FM Baerbock also expressed gratitude for the KRG’s efforts to protect human rights, especially the rights of women and freedom of expression. She also welcomed KRG’s efforts to combat the effects of climate change.

In the letter, FM Baerbock thanked the KRG’s support for the internally displaced people across Iraq since 2014, who still take shelter in the region. She called for continued cooperation between the KRG and the federal govt to protect all components of Iraq and their rights.

At the end of the letter, the FM Baerbock expressed hope for a strong partnership between Erbil and Baghdad after the successful formation of the Iraqi Cabinet. She also emphasized continued cooperation between Germany and the Kurdistan Region and Iraq.
