Prime Minister Barzani receives commanders of the Combined Joint Task Force-Operation Inherent Resolve

Erbil, Kurdistan Region – Prime Minister Masrour Barzani received tonight a delegation led by the outgoing commanding general of the Combined Joint Task Force-Operation Inherent Resolve Mathew McFarlane, and the new commander Major General Joel B Vowell.

Prime Minister Barzani thanked MG McFarlane for his service and wished him success in his future mission. He also congratulated MG Vowell on his inauguration and reaffirmed the KRG’s support and cooperation for the success of his mission.

They spoke in length about progress in the reforms of the Ministry of Peshmerga and ways to eliminate obstacles in efforts to unify the Peshmerga forces and remove political interference in the Ministry.

They also discussed developments and operations to confront ISIS threats in Iraq and Syria.
